A unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a writing retreat fueled by yoga practice and the inspirational surroundings of Maine. Open to all writers, even those that do not yet think of themselves as “writers”, the retreat will offer structured writing exercises, a supportive environment for sharing your work, individual writing time, and tips on how to integrate writing into your life. Rejuvenate your creative spirit. Set intentions during your yoga practice. Dedicate time to your writing passion!

Yoga is especially relevant to creativity because of the spiritual aspects of the practice. When you consider that the practice of yoga originated from that need for the individual to somehow unite with the universe, how can we not proceed to harness that energy for creative thought? Yoga provides that pathway to creativity thought to make it particularly helpful to the writer.

“Your life is a sacred journey. It is about change, growth, discovery, movement, transformation, continuously expanding your vision of what is possible, stretching your soul, learning to see clearly and deeply, listening to your intuition, taking courageous challenges at every step along the way. You are on the path… exactly where you are meant to be right now… And from here, you can only go forward, shaping your life story into a magnificent tale of triumph, of healing, of courage, of beauty, of wisdom, of power, of dignity, and of love.” Caroline Adams, Author.

Do I need prior writing experience?
No prior experience is needed. The workshop is open to all who want to explore
journaling or writing from a creative heart-space.

How long is the workshop?
Typically the workshop runs three days, three hours a day. Plan on arriving the day
before the workshop begins. The earliest departure is after 3 pm on the last day, though
you are welcome to stay longer.

What is the format of the workshop?
There is a short and longer writing exercise and each is preceded by a Kundalini yoga set
and/or meditation. Each day also covers a different writing topic.

What topics are covered?
In the past, we have discussed topics such as: creating a writing routine, the editor and
the generative voice, overcoming procrastination, lifting from descriptive scenes to
reflection, and character development.

Will I have the opportunity to share my writing with fellow participants?
Yes. You will have time to share your writing. Though it is optional, many participants
choose to share, as the space we create together is a safe and supportive one.

Is a private consult available with the writing instructor?
Yes. One-on-one sessions are included. Writers may submit up to five pages in advance
and receive feedback. The private session can also be used to discuss your writing
aspirations, routines that work, getting published, or other areas of interest.

Is the daily retreat schedule available to workshop participants?
Yes. In addition to the writing workshop, each day offers a morning meditation, two
yoga classes, and three vegetarian meals. There is also plenty of time to continue
writing on your own and explore other local activities.
