What is Raja Yoga?

Raja Yoga, also called “royal yoga”, is an ancient practice that teaches us to concentrate our intentions inward through integration of body, mind, and speech. Unlike many other yoga practices that are more physical, Raja Yoga is based mostly on mental exercises to calm the mind. In Raja Yoga we utilize breath work and other techniques to guide the senses inward, leading to a deeper state of focus, concentration, inner peace, and happiness.

Workshop & Retreat Schedule

Objectives: Learn about the 5 elements and the energy centers. Practice basic Raja Yoga exercises to help build concentration, balance the digestive system, strengthen the nervous system, purify the heart, regulate breathing, and enhance the well-being of the body.

Friday July 26, 2024

  • 8:00am Vinyasa Yoga Practice

  • 11:30am – 2:00pm
    Workshop: Breathe, Flow, Transform: Introduction to Raja Yoga and the basic breathing techniques
  • 2:00pm Lunch
  • 3:30pm – 5:30pm
    Free Time or Healing Sessions – NOTE: Healing Sessions must be booked in advance.

  • 8:00am Vinyasa Yoga Practice
  • 9:45am Breakfast
  • 11:30am – 2:00pm
    Workshop: Discover the Power Within: Learn about how our energy centers are connected to the five elements
    Everything in nature is made up of five basic elements; earth, water, fire, air, and space. Knowledge of the five elements allows the yogi to understand the laws of nature, and to utilize yoga to attain greater health, power, knowledge, wisdom, and happiness.
    • Practice Raja Yoga exercises to enhance, purify, and balance the digestive system.

    Workshop: Find Balance, Embrace Yourself
    • Our life is full of daily stresses that can overwhelm our nervous system, causing the sympathetic nervous system to work on overdrive. In Raja yoga we focus on strengthening the nervous system and body, by learning exercises that are practiced by the greatest yogis in India. In this workshop we practice tapping into the parasympathetic nervous system, and regulating it.
    • It is easy to be drawn into the chaos of this world. We are all energetic beings that interact with a multitude of people on a daily basis, subconsciously taking on people’s energy without even noticing. Our heart can become heavy, our immune system can weaken, and we can develop chronic illnesses. In Raja Yoga we practice exercises that focus on cleansing our hearts, purifying our body and soul from the energy we carry from others, purifying ourselves from the baggage we have carried over the years, and tapping into our true nature.
    • Summary of everything we learned and discussion of how to apply it into our daily life and routine.

Who is Pnina Zmora?

Pnina Zmora on her journey

Pnina Zmora has amassed a wealth of knowledge throughout her 25 year spiritual journey, traveling to different countries to learn a multitude of healing modalities. She became a Reiki Master and Spiritual Counselor after completing 550 hours of training. Some of the certifications Pnina acquired throughout the years are: Power by Opposites Yoga, Biorgonomy, Recall Healing, and ThetaHealing. She has completed 200 hours of yoga through the Dharmakaya Center, and is a registered Yoga Alliance teacher.

Since 2010 Pnina has travelled to India annually, where she started her path of learning, practicing, and eventually teaching Brigu Yoga. She has been invited by the Brain Injury Alliance to speak and teach Raja Yoga to participants who suffer from Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI), and their caregivers.

Pnina is very excited to return to Sewall House for her third year, and fulfill her passion for cooking by offering delicious and healthy meals. Pnina will also continue to provide Reiki services upon request, teach Raja Yoga, and offer this healing retreat, July 25-29, 2024.
