Ellen considers herself a Renaissance woman. Her accomplishments include: Drawing, painting, singing, acting, yoga teaching, pilates mat teaching, writing, musician, black diamond skier, award-winning graphic designer, account director, global design presenter, world traveler. She has two degrees in Graphic Design, a BA and a BFA, from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Her first career was as a graphic designer specializing in packaging design. She then studied acting and singing, and performed off-Broadway. From there she became a yoga and Pilates mat teacher, and has proudly taught over 21,000 classes domestically and globally.
During the pandemic Ellen reacquainted herself with her art, and has created an extensive portfolio of drawings and paintings; they can be seen and purchased via Facebook and Instagram. She credits her artwork for helping her get through the pandemic. For Ellen, doing art is a powerful way to express herself and convey her feelings in a visible form. While she has painted for years with watercolors, last year she discovered the joy of painting with watercolor pencils. These will be used in our art workshop.
We will have two art sessions per day. Every morning I’ll lead a Vinyasa Yoga Flow class to get your body moving and your mind flexible. My teaching style is fun, flowing, emphasizes strength and balance, and will leave you feeling toned, relaxed, refreshed and ready to paint!
My yoga teaching, along with my art guidance, is geared to all levels, from absolute beginner to advanced practitioners. In addition, we will take daily walks to remind us that nature is living art, and we will use nature to inspire us in our art. Weather permitting, we will have some of our art sessions outside.
I have found watercolor pencils to be the best of all worlds. You can draw and paint with them, using as much or as little water as you want. You can paint loosely or with great control.
The $500 workshop fee includes art instruction geared to all levels, from beginning to advanced artists. Your artwork will be yours to take home. At the end of the workshop you should have at least one piece suitable for framing.
Our workshop runs from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon. Please arrive Thursday, settle in on Friday and use Monday for some solo time painting or enjoying the other retreat offerings.
I so much look forward to meeting all of you and seeing old friends! See you soon!
