Clearing Your Chakras: Sixth Chakra

The Sixth Chakra is between the eyebrows, and, unless otherwise specified, it is the point we focus on while doing the yoga and while meditating.

The Sixth Chakra, also known as the Third Eye, relates to your intuition and the pituitary, or master, gland. As you learn to trust your intuition, your decisions will become easier to make. While your rational mind may make you doubt your intuition, meditation in the Sixth Chakra will increase the power of your sixth sense.

4 Postures to Help Clear your Sixth Chakra

1. Cow Pose

On your hands and knees, press your spine down and your head up. Keep your eyes closed and focused on the Third Eye, as if your eyes were crossed and looking up. Breathe long and deeply for 7 minutes. This is especially good for women who need to make a decision.

2. Parachute Pose

Sit on your heels. Rest your forehead on the floor and stretch your arms straight out in front of you, palms together. Hold this pose for up to 11 minutes with long, deep breath. This pose stirs creativity, creates clarity of thought, and opens the Sixth (Third Eye) and Seventh (Crown) Chakras.

3. Third Eye Massage

Take the knuckle of one of your thumbs and lightly massage the Third Eye while engaging in a breath of fire.

4. Sat Kriya

Sit on your heels preferably, or cross-legged. Put your arms straight up in the air, palms together, fingers clasped with your index fingers pointing up. Say sat (pronounced “suht”) as you pull your navel in, and nam as you release it. Do this for 11 minutes. This subtle and powerful kriya balances the navel, strengthens the nerves, and raises energy from the lower chakras up the spine to the Third Eye. You may experience heat and sometimes a white light at the Third Eye. Rest on your back in corpse pose for an equivalent amount of time after completing sat kriya.

Conclusion

You can keep your rational mind from squashing your intuition by meditation in your Sixth Chakra. Learn to trust your intuition!
