The Fifth Chakra, the throat chakra, is home to the thyroid and parathyroid glands, which regulate our metabolism and relate to patience. The Fifth Chakra is the center of self-expression and creativity.
People who have chronic throat problems often are not communicating directly and honestly. Often sitting on rage and deeper emotions, they are afraid that if they are honest about their feelings, they will lose control.
Free flowing energy in the throat means open channels form heart to head, honest, and spontaneity. Coughers are literally choking back feelings.
Our emotions come from below the heart, in the solar plexus at the base of the ribs. True expression (gut feeling) originates here and flows smoothly through the throat.
5 Exercises to Clear Your Fifth Chakra

Sitting cross-legged, wrists resting on knees, palms up with index fingers meeting thumbs, inhale to turn head right, exhale to turn head left, keep this movement going.
2. Waa Guru Twist

4. Throat Opener
With your arms straight out in front at sternum level, drop your head back, open your mouth with your tongue outside your mouth, and pant like a dog by doing Breath of Fire.
5. Head Roll
Sitting cross-legged, place your hands in any relaxed meditative pose. Drop your head forward to your collarbone. Begin to roll your head around, breathing deeply through your nose. After 1-3 minutes, reverse direction for the same amount of time.
